Are you an HVAC-experienced trade professional or Building Manager who enjoys overseeing complex mechanical and hydraulic building systems in a large education or campus environment?

Box Hill Institute is seeking an experienced Building Services & Mechanical Systems Officer to help manage and optimise critical mechanical and HVAC, hydraulic and plumbing, and vertical transport systems across our multi-campus education facilities.

This is an autonomous, technically focused role providing oversight of complex building systems and applying sound technical judgement to monitor asset performance, diagnose faults, and determine the appropriate management and rectification approach to support safe, reliable and sustainable campus operations.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll play a key role in ensuring our campuses operate safely, efficiently and sustainably by:

  • Managing preventative maintenance and compliance for mechanical and HVAC (including BMS), hydraulic and plumbing systems
  • Coordinating and overseeing contractors and service providers, ensuring quality, safety and value
  • Responding to work orders, diagnosing issues and supporting fault resolution
  • Supporting energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives
  • Providing technical input into upgrades, renewals and infrastructure projects
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to maintain a high standard of service delivery within an education setting

About you

You’ll bring a strong technical foundation and a proactive, service-focused mindset:

  • Trade qualification in HVAC / Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Working knowledge and experience with hydraulic and plumbing systems, with formal plumbing qualifications highly regarded
  • Solid hands-on experience in building services, facilities or campus-style environments
  • Confidence managing contractors, maintenance programs and compliance obligations
  • Experience with Work Order systems, Building Management Systems (BMS) and OH&S frameworks
  • Organised, communicative and comfortable working autonomously
  • Willingness to obtain a Victorian Working with Children Check and National Police Check
